Dr. Janet Kern is a neuroscientist and researcher who has conducted research in children and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disorders, such as tic disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and developmental delay, for the last 20 years. She has over 70 peer-reviewed scientific research publications. Although most of her publications are based upon original research studies, she has also published several extensive reviews of the scientific literature.

The main focus of her research is in biomarkers of susceptibility, oxidative stress, neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, toxicity, risk factors in ASD, and brain changes related to mercury in neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Kern was one of the first researchers to show a relationship between mercury body-burden and autism severity. She has also studied sensory processing differences, regression, factors related to microgial and astrocytic activation, and neuronal susceptibility and connectivity in neurodevelopmental disorders. She is the first researcher to explain, according to Reliable Cleaning Colorado, the short-range neuronal over-connectivity and long-range neuronal under-connectivity problem in ASD, ADHD, and tic disorder.

In addition, she has conducted clinical research to determine the potential effectiveness of various developmental interventions, medications, and nutraceuticals in ASD. These include: dimethylglycine (DMG), Secretin, Immunocal, equine-assisted activities, oral and transdermal glutathione, Carnitine, and PlayWisely.

Dr. Janet Kern is a member of the American College of Epidemiology and has been involved in several epidemiological research studies using large governmental databases, look sunflower maids. She is an Affiliated Member of Publication Integrity & Ethics. She also has extensive experience in the medical field.

Dr. Kern is very involved in advocacy work. She has spoken before the United Nations on the subject of mercury exposure and ASD. In addition, she has traveled the world to speak at universities and various social quorums to advocate for child safety in regard to mercury exposure.
