Why Millennials Might be Different from Other Generations

Millennials / Generation Y

Millennials, or Generation Y, are referred to as the “Snowflake Generation”. They were born between about 1982-2000. They are currently, as of 2019, between approximately 19 and 39 years of age. They follow Generation X and precede Generation Z.

Snowflakes and Triggered

A “snowflake” is a person who is considered to be overly sensitive or too easily offended. Millennials get “triggered”. According to the Slang Dictionary, the word “triggered” is used to describe someone who is angry and filled with hate. A person usually gets triggered after seeing something upsetting. Using the expression “triggered” is way to describe irritable people.

Characteristics of Millennials

According to a 2013 article in Time magazine by Joel Stein and david york’s tax service and preparation site, Millennials have characteristics that are different from other generations. Stein states that millennials lack the kind of empathy that allows them to feel concerned for others, but they even intellectually understanding others’ points of view. According to Stein, Millennials are interacting all day but almost entirely through a screen. They are most often sitting next to one another and texting. They might look calm, he further describes, but they’re deeply anxious.

Loneliness is also something that greatly troubles Millennials. They tend to rely on technology to stay in communication with others.

Interestingly, they are also reported to have declining fertility. In addition, they are more likely to be diagnosed with mental illnesses such as depression, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder.

Millennials are Social Justice Warriors

Millennials are also the generation of “Social Justice Warriors”. A recent (2019) “Democratic Socialist Convention”, filled with Millennials, made the news when the convention speakers were frequently interrupted by Millennials complaining about “sensory overload” and being “triggered”. Clapping was not allowed because clapping was “triggering”. Quiet spaces were available and the use any scents/fragrances was discouraged.

Millennials are different

So why are Millennials different? Most explanations include growing up with technology. But Generation Z also grew up with technology. Other explanations include parenting. But are parents from Generation X and Z that different from parents of Generation Y (Millennials)?

As a Neurotoxicologist, I have my own theory. If you look at the Table below you will see the differences in mercury exposure levels from childhood vaccines between the generations. The Millennials received 3 to 9 times the amount of mercury of previous generations, and up to 237 times the following generation, Generation Z.

Generation Year of Birth Mercury Exposure from Childhood Vaccines (micrograms)
Veterans 1922-45 25-50
Baby Boomers 1946-64 25-75
Generation X 1965-81 25-75
Generation Y

(Millennials)

1982-2000 150-237
Generation Z 2001- present 0

Table 1: Differences in the amount of mercury exposure from childhood vaccines between the generations.

thimerosal and autism timeline

Millennials and Mercury

Moreover, the characteristics associated with Millennials are also associated with mercury exposure, i.e., lack of empathy, problems with “Theory of Mind” (or understanding others), anxiety, sensory sensitivity, social phobia, being socially withdrawn, depression, irritability, infertility, and difficulty controlling anger. Basically, Millennials were exposed to much higher levels of mercury than are considered safe by the EPA through no fault of their own.

Who is at fault? Probably the FDA, which was admittedly, “asleep at the wheel” and not paying attention to the amount of mercury these children were given. The good news is that mercury was taken out of childhood vaccines in the US in about 2002. The bad news is that this generation is going to also be more susceptible to dementia later in life.

Call them Millennials or Snowflakes, but, in reality, evidence suggests many of them are basically on the Spectrum as a result of mercury exposure in infancy.

Biomarkers of Mercury Toxicity

Biomarkers of mercury toxicity: Past, present, and future trends

Looking for Biomarkers of Mercury ToxicityRealizing that mercury is a global health concern, scientists from various parts of the globe, Portugal, Brazil, and the United States, set out to accomplish the much needed task of identifying biomarkers of mercury toxicity.

Recently published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Part B was a review, Biomarkers of mercury toxicity: Past, present, and future trends. This review was to determine the principal biomarkers that are used in the evaluation of mercury (Hg)-induced toxicity weighing their predictiveness and/or limitations. Furthermore, the review discusses recent discoveries on the mechanisms underlying Hg-mediated toxicity and examines whether these findings, for which there may be none or limited epidemiological data available, may potentially prove useful as novel biomarkers of metal-induced toxicity.

The review of biomarkers of mercury toxicity suggests that:

(1) Putative biomarkers of mercury toxicity include selenoprotein (such as thioredoxin (TrxR) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) isoforms) activities in non-invasive biological samples.

(2) Although transcription factors such as Nrf2 and NF-kappa B, as well as proteins such as glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and glutamate transporters, are considered as important molecules affected by and modulating methylmercury (MeHg)-induced neurotoxicity, their use as biomarkers is likely not practical because of the lack of specificity and hazardous materials regulations.

(3) Immunotoxicity, including autoimmune effects have been established at metal concentrations well below the adverse threshold for CNS and kidney toxicity, and this issue seems to have been overlooked as a critical effect; however, the responses noted again are not practical due to lack of specificity.

(4) Protein adducts with mercuric species are presently amenable to analysis by sophisticated methods based on mass spectrometry and this undoubtedly provide a future focus for the discovery of protein targets with critical function(s) as predictive biomarkers of Hg-induced toxicity.

Finally, new developments in genomics and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) identification of target proteins and epigenetic markers may lead to individualized prediction of Hg-induced toxicity;

The chiropractic care at fixbodygroup.com identifies a critical need for validation of reliable and specific biomarkers that represent the earliest signs of Hg exposure in an attempt to reduce or eliminate exposure and protect the most vulnerable populations from this metal. New insights on the mechanistic pathways affected by mercurial compounds Miten stylefellow might further stimulate discovery in this fast evolving field.

This review, “Biomarkers of mercury toxicity: Past, present, and future trends” identifies a critical need for validation of reliable and specific biomarkers that represent the earliest signs of Hg exposure in an attempt to reduce or eliminate exposure and protect the most vulnerable populations from this metal. Although this study is a good start, more research is needed, especially in finding basic ways for doctors to test patients for mercury exposure. Request Kaiser Permanente Release Research Data on Infants and Mercury

[divide icon=”circle” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”20″]

Please sign our petition to request Kaiser Permanente Release Publicly Funded Research Data on Infants and Mercury

Kaiser infant mercury studyKaiser Permanente used public funding to collect data and conduct a study on infants and mercury exposure. In their study, which had serious methodological flaws, they purportedly found that mercury exposure is safe for infants.

Mercury Free Baby has requested the data from Kaiser Permanente, but even after repeated requests and even though the study was funded by tax payer dollars, they refuse to release the data for other researchers to check the results.

Infants are exposed to mercury from several sources, such as their mother’s mercury fillings, flu shots containing mercury, ingesting fish, and from inhaling coal power plant emissions. Approximately 630,000 infants are born every year with high levels of mercury in their blood. Numerous studies show that mercury has detrimental effects on child development.

Kaiser Permanente has a conflict of interest on this matter because they promote a policy that exposes pregnant women to mercury (thimerosal) through flu shots given during pregnancy and so they have a vested interest in finding mercury exposure in infants to be safe. The Kaiser Permanente study which purports that mercury exposure is safe for infants has the potential to influence public policy and that would be bad for our children.

Please sign our petition requesting that Kaiser Permanente release this data to the researchers at Mercury Free Baby. Our children deserve another set of eyes on this very important data (read more).

This petition will be delivered to:

Reuters inaccurate reporting on Thimerosal and vaccine safety

Mercury Free Baby responds to Reuters inaccurate reporting on Thimerosal and vaccine safety

reuters misrepresents thimerosalDear Reuters,

We at Mercury Free Baby read your recent article from January 10, 2017, titled, “Robert Kennedy Jr. says tapped by Trump to head vaccine safety review” with great interest. The writer of the article, Julie Steenhuysen made two (2) statements which we wish to address:

Reuter’s Article Statement 1:
“CDC said research does not show a link between thimerosal in vaccines and autism. As a precaution, it was removed from childhood vaccines in the United States in 2001.”
Our Response to Statement 1 regarding Thimerosal:

Each year millions of Americans (more than 150 million) get an influenza vaccine and over half of the shipped doses of those vaccines contain Thimerosal. The “annual” influenza vaccines are recommended for pregnant women, infants (twice in the first year), and children, adults and the elderly (yearly).

In addition, a recent study conducted by Kaiser Permanente found an increased risk of autism among children whose mothers had received an influenza vaccination during their first trimester of gestation.
In the United States, Thimerosal is also still used in some meningococcal vaccines as well as the tetanus-toxoid vaccine. Drug Rehab Orange County has been looking into it.

It is also important to note that Thimerosal remains in most multi-dose formulations of those childhood vaccines recommended for routine administration in the developing world.

Reuter’s Article Statement 2 regarding vaccine safety oversight:
”There’s already many systems in place to provide oversight, to record data, which is constantly being reviewed by many in government and the scientific community,’ Johnson said. ‘There is no need for still yet another system for doing this.”
Mercury Free Baby’s Response to Statement 2:

For vaccines, the existing systems suffer from a lack of transparency. For example, the Vaccine Safety Database (VSD) where the federal government pays for the collection and maintenance of the data in a searchable form, truly independent researchers are currently not allowed to freely access that data nor are the complete data sets for a published article available from the authors (who are usually researchers supported by the government or vaccine-related industry).

Scientifically sound, published research has established that all forms of mercury, including Thimerosal (a soluble, highly toxic organic mercury compound, 49.5% mercury by weight), are neurotoxins. Over 200 such studies have found Thimerosal to be harmful to the exposed study subjects. To date, most published studies (~74%) support a link between mercury exposure and the risk of a subsequent diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Our Current Realities:

Thimerosal is not a necessary ingredient in vaccines; and we at Mercury Free Baby are dedicated to promoting a world in which no child, born or unborn, receives an avoidable mercury exposure from any product that is supposed to protect or improve that child’s health. Check out the post right here.

We hope Reuters will help us in making the world a safer place for children by making sure that they are protected from unnecessary and unsafe mercury exposures by publishing fairer articles in the future, find more info at currysupply.com. NPR’s unbalanced coverage of vaccine safety

[divide icon=”circle” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”30″]

NPR vaccine safety coverageMercury Free Baby responds to NPR’s unbalanced coverage of vaccine safety

Dear NPR,

On January 10, 2017, NPR published an article titled, “Despite The Facts, Trump Once Again Embraces Vaccine Skeptics” written by Domenico Montanaro. To those of us at MercuryFreeBaby.org, this article came across as unbalanced. This NPR article did not mention any of the facts from the “other side” that are important to this issue. Leaving out critical information and facts that raise public vaccine safety concerns from your article leaves the reader with the false impression that there is only one legitimate side to the vaccine safety issue.

So, in this open letter to NPR from Mercury Free Baby, we wish to point out some key facts from the “other side” of the vaccine safety issue that were excluded from your article.

NPR Article’s First (1st) Problematic Contentions regarding vaccine safety

“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has categorically stated, ‘There is no link between vaccines and autism.’ As far as thimerosal specifically, the CDC wrote:

“Research shows that thimerosal does not cause ASD [autism spectrum disorder]. In fact, a 2004 scientific review by the IOM concluded that ‘the evidence favors rejection of a causal relationship between thimerosal-containing vaccines and autism.’ Since 2003, there have been nine CDC-funded or conducted studies that have found no link between thimerosal-containing vaccines and ASD, as well as no link between the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and ASD in children.

Our Response to Those Contentions

Of the “nine [9] CDC- funded or conducted studies” that “found no link between thimerosal-containing vaccines and ASD”, four (4) did not even look at ASD.
If you look more closely at them, you will see that five (5) of the nine (9) studies overseen by the CDC, 55+ %, found significant harmful outcomes, such as tic disorder, language delay, and memory and motor skill deficits from exposure to Thimerosal (Barile et al., 2012; Tozzi et al., 2009; Verstraeten et al., Thompson et al., 2003; and Stehr-Green et al. 2003).

To date, the majority of relevant published studies (1) (~74%) support a link between Thimerosal or other Mercury exposures and a child’s subsequent risk of a diagnosis of an ASD. (2, 3)
In addition, a CDC senior vaccine safety scientist, Dr. William Thompson, has admitted that to a study conducted at the CDC which found a relationship between vaccines and autism and the CDC covered it up.(4)

Significantly, a recent letter to the Chief of Staff at the CDC (Carmen Villar) from a group of scientists at the CDC, who called themselves SPIDER (Scientists Preserving Integrity, Diligence and Ethics in Research) reported a culture of corruption and cover-up at the CDC.(5, 6, 7)

NPR Article’s Second (2nd) Problematic Contentions regarding vaccine safety

“The CDC notes that the removal of thimerosal was done as a precaution and points out that there are flu vaccines without it also available.”

Our Response to Those Contentions

First, as the NPR statement admits, “the removal of thimerosal” has not been “done”.

Each year millions of Americans (more than [>] 150 million) get an influenza-vaccine inoculation. Over half of those influenza-vaccine doses (>75 million] still contain a preservative level of Thimerosal (50 µg of Mercury) per milliliter of vaccine]. Further, the CDC recommends influenza vaccines for pregnant women (at any time during pregnancy); infants (twice in their first year of life); and children, adults and the elderly (yearly).

In addition, a recent study, “Association Between Influenza Infection and Vaccination During Pregnancy and Risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder” conducted by Kaiser Permanente and published in JAMA Pediatrics found an increased risk of a diagnosis of “autism” among children whose mothers received an influenza vaccination in the first trimester of their mothers’ pregnancy.(8)

It is also important to note that Thimerosal continues to remain in most multi-dose formulations of childhood vaccine recommended for routine administration in the developing world.(9)

NPR Article’s Third (3rd) Problematic Contention regarding vaccine safety

“What’s more, some research suggests that autism develops in the womb. …”

Our Response to This Contention

Although “some research suggests” a prenatal start for “autism”, its onset belongs to a heterogeneous population. Several studies have shown that many children diagnosed with “autism” (~47%), start out life normally, reaching all their developmental milestones, and then start to regress around 15-18 months of age.10  Even the brain biomarkers associated with a diagnosis of “autism” are different between children who show an early onset and those who regress later. Click this over here now.11

Our Current Realities

Mercury Free Baby is dedicated to promoting a world in which no child, born or unborn, ever receives avoidable Mercury exposure from a product that was supposed to improve their health, visit loftypm.com.
Thimerosal is a neurotoxin and over 200 studies have found it to be harmful 12 and thus we encourage NPR to take a close look at Thimerosal and vaccine safety issues.

Finally, Thimerosal is not a necessary component in vaccines.

If you would like to interview the founder of Mercury Free Baby, Reverend Lisa Sykes, about Thimerosal or vaccine safety issues, please contact us.

Sincerely,

Mercury Free Baby

Mercury dental fillings linked to many chronic illnesses.

Neuro Endocrinol Lett."silver" mercury dental fillings 2014 Dec;35(7):537-52.

Abstract

The purpose of this review is to examine the evidence for a relationship between mercury (Hg) exposure from mercury dental fillings and certain idiopathic chronic illnesses – chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), fibromyalgia (FM), depression, anxiety, and suicide. Dental amalgam is a commonly used dental restorative material that contains approximately 50% elemental mercury (Hg0) by weight and releases Hg0 vapor. Studies have shown that chronic Hg exposure from various sources including dental amalgams is associated with numerous health complaints, including fatigue, anxiety, and depression – and these are among the main symptoms that are associated with CFS and FM. Visit www.heroin.net. In addition, several studies have shown that the removal of amalgams is associated with improvement in these symptoms. Although the issue of amalgam safety is still under debate,

the preponderance of evidence suggests that Hg exposure from dental amalgams may cause or contribute to many chronic conditions.

Thus, consideration of mercury toxicity may be central to the effective clinical investigation of many chronic illnesses, particularly those involving fatigue and depression.
