Mercury Free Baby responds to Democratic Senator Bob Menendez’s inaccurate statements about the link between Thimerosal and autism
Dear Senator Menendez,
We, at Mercury Free Baby, wish to address statements that you made during the hearing for Dr. Tom Price, President Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. In that hearing you asked, “Do vaccines cause autism?”
Dr. Price responded, “I think the science in that instance is that they don’t, but there are individuals in our country who are very …”
Your immediate response was, “I’m not asking about individuals, I’m asking about science.”
Further you asked if Dr. Price would, “swiftly and unequivocally debunk false claims.”
It was very clear from your statements that you think that the science does not support a vaccine-autism connection, suggesting that the science is on your side.
We at Mercury Free Baby would like to point out that the majority of scientific studies are Thimerosal and autism are not on your side.
About Thimerosal and autism
Thimerosal, the mercury-based preservative used in vaccines, has been clearly shown to be a risk factor for autism, as well as mercury exposure in general. Research from the scientific community as a whole has found that Thimerosal is a neurotoxin and there are over 200 studies that have found it to be harmful. To date, about 3/4ths of the cited studies support a link between Thimerosal and/or other mercury species and the risk of a diagnosis of ASD and other neurodevelopmental disorders.
The argument, from you and others like you, is that the only studies that are “credible” are studies sponsored or conducted by the CDC. This is remarkable, knowing that the CDC whistle blower, a senior vaccine safety scientist, Dr. William Thompson, has admitted that there was a study conducted at the CDC which found a relationship between vaccines and autism and the CDC covered it up.
In addition, a recent letter to the Chief of Staff at the CDC (Carmen Villar) from a group of scientists at the CDC, who called themselves SPIDER (Scientists Preserving Integrity, Diligence and Ethics in Research) reported a culture of corruption and cover-up at the CDC. That letter expressed alarm “…about the current state of ethics at our agency.” Those scientists said, “…our mission is being influenced and shaped by outside parties and rogue interests” and “…circumvented by some of our leaders.” , Furthermore, the CDC sponsored studies which examined the possible relationship between Thimerosal and autism were typically conducted by foreigners with questionable research integrity, such as Dr. Poul Thorsen who is currently a fugitive, wanted in two countries (the US and Denmark) for research fraud, theft, and tax evasion.
Moreover, even CDC studies have shown that exposure to Thimerosal is associated with tic disorder, language delay, and memory and motor skill deficits.
You ought to talk with independent scientist outside of the CDC, who, unlike the CDC scientists, do not view this issue through the fear of their own culpability and do not accept millions of dollars a year from vaccine manufacturers. The vast majority of studies conducted by independent scientist without a financial conflict of interest find there is a relationship between exposure to Thimerosal and autism.
We hope you will help us in making the world a safer place for children by ensuring that they are protected from unnecessary and unsafe mercury exposures.
